TLS401 Character and Sentiment

I just got my Ricoh TLS401 camera up and running again after almost 12 years of being in storage.

It was my fathers camera and he bought it in the early 70's before I was even born (that makes me feel old).

It was used take family photos for as long as I can remember. I remember looking at it in awe as a kid and being completely over the moon when I was allowed to use it.

Now that it's up and running again I'm eager to get to work with it.

I was surprised to find the interest in this camera; and I see there are many that have come across the TLS401 in the same way as me. The TLS401 carry's character and sentiment.

I hope to be posting some photos taken with it soon.

ReWork

I rarely read business books, usually when I read I do it for enjoyment and I don't need work going through my head. It's enough to spend the better part of 5 days doing that.

I came across a recommendation for a book called Rework by Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson. This was not your typical "business" book. It was in a lot of ways the complete opposite to all that I had been exposed to in my career to date.

It has made me look at things in a different way and evaluate things using a different scorecard. It's also done a really good job of filling in the blanks.

I've been trying to bring a few of the initiatives from this book into my work day and strangely enough into my private time, and it's amazing how relevant they still are. I think it's simply a case of work and private time are intertwined a lot more than I thought they were.

It's early days yet, but some of the topics in this book ignited a spark in me and forced me to re-evaluate some old methodologies.

I highly recommend this to anyone working. It doesn't matter if you work for yourself or for someone else, there's something there for everyone.
